BIO:

Rakia Reynolds is a 28 year old earthy, chic, budget conscious fashionista living in Philadelphia. She started creating her own wears out of simple necessity. She enjoys thrifting, antiquing, creating new styles for people, writing, film noir, and food to name a few. She adores playing at the park with her four year old daughter and going on dates with her husband.

Being the pack rat that I am, every other week, I find myself being the collector of something! Be it frog broaches, pieces of blue vintage cloth, rare coins, or dragonfly patches, I love to be a "collector" from time to time. This week my obsession for "collecting" is shoe clips. Shoe clips are great for those who like to transform their shoes without transforming their pocket:). I found these great vintage yellow wedges at an estate sale last week and decided to give them a little boost by adding a cool accessory to the front. I tried two options to see what would look best. Let me know which one you liked best.

Shoe_clips
You can find shoe clips on eBay or any antique or vintage store. They were really big in the 60's. They range in price from $2 a pair to $25 (roughly. and also depending on where you live). If you can't find shoe clips, clip on earrings can also do the job. Try shoe clips on ballet flats, heels, wedges, and even thong sandals.

I LOVE shoe clips! I make my own but and get all my "shoe clip inspiration" from the designer ALIZA DARIK- she sells her shoe clips at MultiChic.com! Beautiful!!!

I love the pearls!
Check out the #1 shoe clip website: www.absolutelyaudrey.com.
They have a mix of vintage and new styles. Shoe clips are a smart and affordable way to jazz up an outfit. Have you tried clipping them to your hats too? Lovely!

Rakia surely knows her stuff. If i may??? a furry slipper looks good with shoe clips and earings just make sure they are small so the dont overwhelm the "fuzzy". The broach is a good one aswell, just buy 2 lol. Okay Rocky, can't wait for the next tip to pass the word to my female audiance. I will let them know this is how you stay "FLY". HE HE!

I love the shoe clip idea. I thought of making little bows in several colors to clip to my various heels...and now must follow through!!

Luv ya RakSTAR!!

Great idea! I like the strawberry clip. It looks really fun! Keep the tips coming.

Rakia is going to be agreat addition to this site. I am already excited and motivated to think outside the box with my fashion choices. I would have never thought to add a clip on earing to a pair of shoes! I love the pearls on the shoes, they give a classic look to an otherwise plain shoe. Leave it to you to spice things up! Can't wait for the next tip!

OOOOH! I love shoe clips. I have been buying them from a site I discovered via theknot.com called

pearls... great for a night out and the strawberry piece... perfect for a summer day.

Yay! It's good to see that Fly is growing. And I love the little flying hanger with wings.

PS. I've been doing the shoe clip. . my mother handed down quite a few pairs of her shoes from the 70's/80's and their my favorites.

They look like so much fun, and makes altering styles so simple.

Hi Rakia!
I LOVE vintage and frequent flea markets, thrift shops, and ebay for stuff, but I really want to get into estate sales. I live in New York, but I was hoping you could give me some pointers on where to begin looking for them.
