Last Friday I went to the closing ceremony for the AIGA Campain 2 Sustain poster exhibition at the amazing Crane Arts building. "Campaign 2 Sustain is a student poster competition that seeks to create public awareness about sustainable and environmentally conscious practices." Hundreds of students submitted posters. It was really amazing to see all the different concepts that were presented to address the importance of sustainability. My classmates and I, along with many other students from our school, submitted posters. When I worked on the project I never even imagined winning the competition. So when they called my name for the first place prize I was shocked. What an honor, and what a wonderful surprise. (I was cheesin' so hard, see pic below!)
My poster is divided into perforated cards so that the viewer can walk away with a reminder of what to do to help save our planet. On the back of each card all 30 ways are listed. Something I forgot to add and wanted to include was to design the back-side of the center (the part that would be left behind once all the cards are torn away). I should have designed the list into that area as well. Sigh...I''m very proud but the mind of an artist is never satisfied with the final piece!
