Who? Jeanee, 35 (gosh... when did that happen?)
What do you do? I am a graphic designer for Hallmark Cards. I am the owner and creator of an indie biz called Dirty Laundry. I'm also a Zumba fitness instructor and wife.
What inspires you? Other gals that are doing IT! Women who are doing their businesses full-time. Especially those who are moms too. Much respect to you! All the beautiful art and creative people that are on the Internet. I just can't get enough of finding unique blogs! But nothing compares to getting out and seeing great stuff in person. Craft shows, the market, mom & pop shops... the list could go on and on!
Why are you fly? I'm fly because I do me. I remember in grade school and high school the other black kids from around the way would give me a hard time about "acting" white. I still don't understand why people do that to others this day in age. But, when I was in school I never let it bother me. I knew who I was and I always stayed true to myself. I put my Madonna clip in my Jerry Curl and went about my business! It pays off to have your own thing going own.
Advice: Learn as much as you can! This goes to you young gals. I wish I knew half of the opportunities that were available to me now! The younger generation is SO lucky to have the technology of the Internet and social networking to get information. If I had an Etsy shop when I was 16 .. shoot! Don't be afraid if what you want to do in life seems out of the norm. It's not, because YOU are the one seeking YOUR dream.
It's never too late to start something. This goes out to you older gals. You're never too old to have a life "do over" or go back to school to learn something. The idea of graduating college, getting married, starting a family and having ONE career got thrown out of the window for me in my mid-20s. Once I was able to let go of that rule and open myself to MY journey of life my path to my destiny became clearer.
