Ever meet someone who just blows you away with their brilliance? My friend Beth Shirrell is one of those people. We met in grad school and since then I've been floored by her design skills, knowledge, and ideas. Her work is amazing!
I especially love this font she created inspired by the culture and decorative elements of India. Named Kalakhari, which means ornamentation in Hindi, Beth used the English alphabet to create beautiful references to Indian architecture, ancient art and henna. To display the font she designed a series of screen-printed posters in rich colors reminiscent of the country.
Kalakhari has won several design awards including Gold in the highly respected Graphis New Talent competition. So awesome! See the entire project here.
