Pretty Petite Patterns
The recent issue of Selvedge Magazine is so juicy! Here is a little taste of the goodness within this textile publication; these photos are from a feature on small scale prints.

The April 2008 issue of Print Magazine is superb. It's features are about design in the world of fashion, and it's also the New Visual Artists issue, where you get to meet the industry's hottest and newest talent. AND who can resist the cover illustrated by Stina Persson?
Metropolis magazine did a little write up about cities taking the initiative to clean up alley-ways to create friendly and communal environments in urban neighborhoods. Some have even added cafes, boutiques and galleries to these small spaces. I think it's a wonderful idea to have a place for neighbors to converge and hang out. (The bottom two photos are the before and after of a transformed alley.)
One of my favorite places to visit on the web has gotten a make-over. Check out the new New York Times, T Style Magazine website, it looks great.
The September/October issue of Print Magazine has a fantastic article about a subway mural installation commissioned by the MTA Arts for Transit in New York. Artist, Andrea Dezsö, was selected out of many submissions to create her version of a community garden on a wall at the Bedford Park Boulevard subway stop in the Bronx (on the 4 train). Print features the progression of the project from sketches to tile selection to application. The finished product looks amazing! (Dedicated to Donna V.)
Aren't the colors used in this beach bungalow just gorgeous?! I love how the theme is carried throughout the entire home; the red is a perfect contrast to the ocean blue that mimics the water just outside the front door. Speaking of home decor, I'm having such a horrible time decorating my living room. It's coming along slowly...I take that back, it's not coming along at all. I ignore it by just staying in my workroom and hoping that maybe an interior design professional will magically appear and make everything better. Images from: Blueprint Magazine
I love these beautiful spreads from Swindle Magazine. The colors, the photography, and the textured background patterns are such a nice mix for a delicious layout.
