These photos in Swindle Magazine were inspired by the Ziegfeld Follies Broadway musicals. I love the darkened vignettes contrasted with touches of bright color, along with the feminine styling mixed with tough guy tattoos.

This weekend I was looking through some old magazines in my collection for inspiration. I came across these two images in the July/August issue of Tokion. I was drawn to the randomness of the first photo (city unknown) and the pastel colors of these buildings in Shenzhen, China. Photos by Peter Bialobrzeski

These Laura Lees shorts (on Sienna Miller) remind me of the Levi's Jeans Contest I posted back in December. I love how her embroidered illustrations give a little more character to her dresses, pants and tops. See more of designer Laura Lees' beautiful designs here. Photo from Nylon Magazine

I have to admit, I am guilty of buying things just because I love the patterns or colors of a piece. I saw this top at Urban Outfitters and decided I was going to buy it before I even knew what it was. The top is cute, but the pattern is cuter.

Have you ever walked down a city street and noticed a pole covered with a knitted sleeve? I happened to when I went on a street art tour with my coworkers here in NY. Unfortunately, you have to take my word for it because I didn't take a picture, but this weekend I came across an article in Craft Magazine that reveals the brains behind this "new" graffiti style. The team (called Knitta, Please!, which I'm not too fond of, sounds too close to something else...) of knitting moms, artists, and such, tag the urban terrain with their knitted masterpieces. Everything from door knobs, lampposts and street signs are subject to be covered in a colorful cozy or sweater. I love the idea of combining street art with craft culture, so innovative. To learn more pick up Craft Magazine or visit Knitta, Please.com.

Bohemian Soul consists of funky tops and accessories that will add a little soul to any wardrobe. I am waiting to get my hands on that little blue top for the summer.

Yesterday I received these in a Valentine's Day package from my boyfriend. I fell in love with them when I was checking out a boutique during my visit in LA. He remembered! What a lovely surprise. Thanks babe!

Suzie Kondi, of Toast Accessories, designs these beautiful clutches with embellished leather and wood. I've been wanting one of these bags for two years now. I can't wait for the website to be updated with their newest collection. Definitely look through the site to see what's been done in the past.

If you have yet to pick up Selvedge Magazine, you are missing out. Everything is beautiful about this textiles resource, but for me the photography is by far the best.

Mia, a coworker, had to be Fly Girl of the Week. She has a great sense of style, she's creative and whenever I chat with her I walk away thinking, 'dang this girl is incredibly intelligent.' Thanks, Ms. Mia!
Who: Mia, 23
Where: I live in New York City which is without question my favorite city but I think in a few months it may be time for a change of scenery.
What do you do? I work in on-air promotions.
What inspires you? Rundown amusement parks, photo booths, postcards, Waldo and strangers on the subway.
Why are you fly? I think I'm fly because I can find something to celebrate everyday.
Advice: Follow your whims. At least that's what I'm trying to do - stop thinking so much and take a chance.
