The Franklin Fountain is an old-school ice-cream parlour here in Philly. Their homemade ice-cream is really good especially in flavors like cotton candy, coconut and peach (which is made from peaches of local Jersey farmers) and you can get any flavor made into one of their unique sundae concoctions. I usually stick with my favorite, which is peanut butter. One of my uncle's used to always say, "You'll never see anyone unhappy eating ice cream." That is so true, because Rahil, her son (Little Pooh) and I could not stop smiling with our afternoon ice-cream treat.

A fellow blogger introduced me to the remarkable work of Frida Kamau-Hathorn. I love her use of muted pastels which compliment the complexions of each figure. Thanks Paco!

You are the ladies behind the magic that is MissBruno, tell me more. Who, what, where?
We are sisters and we design a line of scarves and so-called dresses. Shirley and I (Marjory) are based in Brooklyn but we’re from Haiti.
What experiences prepared you to create MissBruno?
Our individual and shared experiences are so varied, we’re health nuts, we’ve lived both close to nature and in the most concrete of cities. We were also raised in a very traditional Haitian upbringing which is another way of saying strict. And when you’re living under really strict rules, it’s amazing how creative you get to circumvent those rules! All of these things helped shaped MissBruno and our take on how to ingeniously live wherever you are. I think the people that are attracted to our clothing also live creatively under so many different circumstances. They appreciate beauty and real functionality and this comes naturally to them. There is no pretense, just an extension of who they are. {{Read more here.}}

Who? Sirita Chavhan Wright, 26
Where? Currently residing in Brooklyn, NY by way of Largo MD
What do you do? I am a Visual Merchandiser for Lester's Shops along with Production Assistant for MelanieDIZON.
Soon to be published author!!! I am working on a series of short
stories inspirered by true events: SY Memoirs. The first installment
will be completed by January 2009. Also I have 2 blogs & websites
under development: thatsova.com & snapforthekidz.com.
In addition I am embarking on DJ classes next month because I am a TRUE
lover of music. I also love to sing and act so a move to CALI
in the next 5 years is also in the plans. (Mogul in the making!)
What inspires you? I am inspired by people, places and conversations. The book I am
working on was TRULY inspired by true events which take place every
summer and I have been fortunate enough to see firsthand how this
particular subject operates. It's made for fantastic conversation. What was once thoughts turned into ideas and it
formulated into a book! I am also very much inspired by the creativity
that has developed within my youngest siblings, they inspire me to work
MUCH harder because they do it and do it WELL! My brother is 21 with a
graphic design company and my sister has her own pop culture blog: http://www.culturereign.blogspot.com/.
Why are you fly? I am FLY because I accept the fact that I LOVE everything and I am
willing to work for the things which truly move me. I am FLY because I
stay optimistic, even when its raining, to me it's Liquid Sunshine.
The glass is ALWAYS half full...
Advice: Set goals, travel, be open and receptive, speak less & listen more and above everything else be your own cheerleader!

Growing up in Maryland exposed me to the wonderful world of seafood (we have the best crabcakes in the world!!!) Every summer, nearly every weekend, we would go to Annapolis (or the wharf in D.C.) and buy crabs, clams and shrimp and go home to cook it all up for a seafood feast. When I went home to visit mom this weekend we decided to leave the cooking to McGarvey's, my favorite restaurant at the Annapolis Harbor. We went in for a light early evening meal, but it really got crazy, especially when we added the wings (not quite seafood but still just as good). Oysters on the half shell is really her thing, I helped her eat two but still had a hard time with that oyster texture. Clams casino is by far my favorite seafood appetizer in life! Even though we were both stuffed we had to go next door to Storm Bros. for some ice-cream. Oh and I know I look drunk in the picture of me stuffing my face with another buffalo wing, I was...drunk with food.
